FROM THE GHETTO EP
JFUNC
Cat In The Attic is back with its third record and keeping standards suitably high with the ‘From the Ghetto’ EP by JFunc, featuring a special remix from Hamza.
The title track opens the EP with that low slung hypnotic chug and a beautifully programmed walking bass line with a delicious disco-vocoder twist. This track wanders and walks through all manner of deep house elements, excellently arranged by JFunc, to keep the narrative of the track fluid and evolving.
Hamza steps up to the plate as remixer on this package and delivers a very fresh interpretation of the original, taking the walking bass line on a different trip. The man from New Dehli flips the sound of the original marrying it off with a slick but intricate groove.
Closing the EP we return to JFunc and a track that breezes through your system. Echoing the rhythm of the title track, ‘Seventh of Nine’ heats things up with a hazy piano riff to guide you through. Late summer vibrations and a well-loved vocal cut make this the perfect B-side...
